Southeast Asian Archaeologies

Archaeology is the study of materials of the past, in order to foster an understanding of past cultural behavior. Often, the study of materials within the realm of technology or subsistence may provide insight onto cultural patterns for language, social organization, ritual or belief. However, It is important to keep in mind that archaeology is not a conclusive study, and at best raises more questions than answers. Therefore, as an archaeological organization, Southeast Asian Archaeologies was designed to parallel the aims of archaeology, to study the material culture of the past in order to understand the development and movement of the earliest people of Southeast Asia, and their ancestors. Expecting to confront more questions than answers, this company may be regarded as a small stepping-stone in the reconstruction of our global prehistory.

At present, the archaeology of Southeast Asia’s mainland and maritime realm is approached from universities spanning the globe; some of which include Canada, France, Japan, New Zealand, Thailand, and the USA. Cumulative, interdisciplinary approaches from a variety of cultural and academic backgrounds are becoming the norm for archaeological teams as they begin to face the challenges involved in prehistoric and historical reconstructions within the realm of Southeast Asia.

Southeast Asian Archaeologies recognizes the importance of history for cultural identity. This company was created to provide prehistoric and historical foundations for the people of Southeast Asia. During a time when anthropology is redefining itself, we believe that it is possible to use the latest in anthropological technology and theory, combined with indigenous knowledge and participation in order to accomplish the objectives at hand.
